The North had many advantages over the South during the Civil War. One was that the North had “secret weapons” that Abraham Lincoln used. These secret weapons were the telegraph which allowed Lincoln to send orders to his generals directly. The second “secret weapon” was trains. Trains allowed troops and supplies to be delivered across the country. The had much more railroad track than the South. However, the North did have one disadvantage that was a problem throughout the entire Civil War. That problem was their weekness in picking good generals that could beat the Confederate generals Lee and Jackson.
