There were two presidents during the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln was President of the United States of America or the Union. Jefferson Davis was President of the Confederate States of America during the war. Hanninbal Hamlin was Lincoln’s vice president during his first term. During his second term Andrew Johnson was his vice president who went on to become the 17th President of the United States. Alexander Stephens was the vice president for the Confederate States of America during the Civil War.
